How to Turn Thrift Store Halloween Finds Into Chic Fall Decor
I have never enjoyed decorating for Halloween and hardly even for fall. I recently realized it's because I despise the color orange. So I created chic and subtle Halloween decor that matches my house and is NOT orange.
I thrifted all of the items below from Goodwill during their Fall VIP sale for $12. One tip I always use when thrifting is to look at the size and shape of objects...color can always be changed!
1. Prep the paint
I started by pouring some paint onto a paper plate to mix. It doesn't really matter what type of paint you use, but I used Satin paint in White Dove. I also did some in Eggshell Revere Pewter.
2. Add baking soda
Next, I added some baking soda and mixed the paint and baking soda until I had a thick consistency. I added backing soda to the paint because it gives it texture and creates a pottery-like finish.
3. Paint the items
Next, I painted three coats of the baking soda and paint mixture onto each of my ~spooky~ items.
Painted Halloween to fall decor
Look how cute these turned out! They look great clustered together, but would also look awesome spread across my living room and kitchen on separate tables and shelves because they are subtle and go with the rest of my decor.
