Hi Timaree,
Why not just add a piece of board at a suitable thickness in one or two or three pieces. Add a knob front and back so it/they can be removed for access easily. Either fill as is with stuff or add suitable boxes for the job! Best wishes.
What items do you want to store in the tub?
Measure the size of your tube and have one of the home improvement stores cut 1/2 or 3/4" plywood to fit. You can paint it the same color as your tub or whatever pleases you. You can also sit lightweight rattan or metal bookshelves on top if you don't need to access what you've stored very often. A friend of mine did this and she changes out the "theme" every few months because she simply doesn't need the bathtub in one particular bathroom.
A large piece of wood cut to size would give you a nice flat surface over the tub. You might be able to attach it to a wall with hinges for raising and lowering. A handle or 2 might make the lid easier to move.
thank you sounds good
An easy way would be to box it in with wood. The wooden frame can slide over the bathtub closing it off.
Yes 1/2-3/4” plywood won’t warp immediately and you can stack things on it, to some degree.
Hi Timaree, if your bathtub is right next to the wall, you can add a piece of wood, cut into sections, on top. The wood pieces can be attached to the wall with hinges to make it easir to open and close. One large section may be difficult to lift up.

Make A Beautiful Removable Bathtub Cover
For anyone deciding to make a cover to a bathtub similar design to the photo above (with the taps still protruding) the hardware can simply be removed, the water lines clamped, and the holes capped off. This would result in a totally flat accessible storage space. If someone else desires to use the tub as a bathtub at some point in the future, simply reinstall the tap set again.
If you have a storage problem then surely you need the best size alcove bathtubs since it requires small space.
Used a jig saw and a piece of plywood to custom cut a cover for my friend's .... painted it white, she has it loaded with storage items.
