Ammonia strips wax. Follow dilutio instructions on the bottle.

why did you wax your slate? Not a good idea . I would say vinegar or ammonia to remove, then vow to never do that again!
Ammonia is great for stripping off wax, make a dilution according to directions on the bottle. Have plenty of ventilation, there will be fumes that can harm you.
