How to alleviate awful glare of white vinyl fence?
Our neighbor just put up a solid white vinyl fence which spans about 70 feet of our shared backyard. It faces west and the afternoon and evening glare is awful it actually hurts your eyes to look at the fence. It puts this awful unnatural light into our kitchen, family room, and bedroom. We have to close the shades, covering on patio door, etc. Does anybody have any solution of what can be done to alleviate this awful glare into our house?

Hi Linda you could look into window films. I found a couple I loved on amazon, cut them to size and just applied them with water. You could purchase the type that simply stops glare but doesn't interfere with looking out your windows at all. What I love about them is that they're not permanent at all but I've had no issues with them staying in place with no problem.
Hi Linda, how about some panels along the fence? Or something similar,

Exterior window awnings, either extended permanently, or crank up/down is another option that eliminates the glare shining on the glass, while still allowing to see through the windows.
I would try window film on the windows that face the fence.
Short of removing some of the finish on the fence, the solution of the problem comes to you.
The window film (one way) is a great idea, I like the kind where you can see out but no one can see in, the kind they use in restaurants. This would also serve to block UV rays that can damage your furniture.
Awnings are also an option, although more expensive than window film.
Take a look here at Amazon and see if anything would work for you:

Hello. You probably have two options depending on your budget and timeframe.
Either place a plant landscaped border of shrubs or trees or use some curtains or blinds to physically screen away the glare.
You could put bamboo rolls of fencing up on your side. That is after you get permission from neighbor first before doing this. Here is a pic showing what I am talking about.

You can sink posts a few inches from the neighbors fence on your side and install privacy panels

I am sure your neighbors have no idea this is causing you such distress with the glare so maybe you need to cover the fence on your side with lattice or bamboo type fencing
Have you talked to your neighbor? Maybe show them what it does to your side and maybe you can compromise so you can paint your side a darker color?
You can use this on your windows is a sun block https://amzn.to/3tpueyS
Hi! A window film is probably your best option short term. Perhaps some shrubs would help?
You can buy artificial screening to cover the fence in a choice of flowers or types of leaves, or you could emulsion it on your side with a colour or put a trellis in front of it or Plant climbers up it.
