Is washi tape recyclable?
I'm moving to a new place and taking down my renter-friendly washi tape decor when I thought... wait, isn't this just paper? Can I chuck the washi paper in the recycling or because it has the sticky adhesive on the back, I shouldn't?

Check with local city....most have different procedures. In our city we can't put store plastic bags in the recycle bins but can place hard plastics there.

Washi tape is made by so many different companies, and DIYer, that it's hard to know what each company uses in construction. So hard to know if they are all recyclable.

Honestly Iād be surprised if it could be recycled but if you still have the packaging or know what company made it, Iād try reaching out to them and ask.
There are some kinds that might be recyclable, but it depends on the quality and how they're made. You can learn more about it here: https://katieleamon.com/blog/what-is-washi-tape-and-how-do-i-use-it/
Hi Sarah! Traditional washi tape (which 90% of take marketed as washi tapes are) is made up of entirely biodegradable materials: paper and sugar paste glue, so they are absolutely recyclable, but lesser brands also include plastic or protective coatings over their patterns, or chemical based glues.
