Yes, but. You will have to remove, using a chemical stripper, every trace of the old finish so that a new stain can make its way into the wood. Assuming that you have raised panel doors, it is difficult at best to get into all of the corners. Once that is done I found something on Amazon called a "weathering wood finish" that sounds exactly like what you described. As I said, it requires that every bit of old finish be removed.

Hi Linda. You can get this look. My parents just stained molding that looks like a grey drift wood. Check your local home improvement store for a grey stain. Before you stain make sure you sand the cabinets to remove the old finish. Good Luck!
