I bought 2 Ikea Lack TV benches a year ago, at $ 15,99 each. This week-end, I decided tu upgrade it by adding two rolling drawers under the table. Kids have a PS3, a WiiU, hubby plays bass... There's always electronic stuff lying around in my living room. I'm fed up ! In addition, the drawers hide all electrical wires behind the table.

I used Cedar D4S - 5/4 in x 6 in x 8 ft to make the drawers. I cut 2 pieces of 30" and 2 pcs of 10" long in each plank.

I made pre-holes in the woods for the assembly, so that the wood does not crack. Before screwing, I also put wood glue ... It will hold !!

With my table saw, I cut the bottom of the drawer out of white plywood. I cut 2 pieces of 30 "x 11 3/4" If you don't have a table saw, ask your local hardware store to cut it for you.

I installed the drawer bottoms with 1 1/2 "screws after making pre-holes. Then I installed the casters.

I had a nice barn plank from a previous project. I cut it to 30 7/8 "and I glued it, and screwed on front of the drawer.

I made holes to pass the rope which would serve as a handle. I thought that a single cord was not enough, so I enlarged the hole to pass a three-strand, braided cord through it. To help pass the rope, I wrapped it in Frog Tape.

Well ... I know I should have done this step long before, but I hadn't done it ... I sanded the edges of the barn board and lightly the wood itself to make it more smooth.

With a little acrylic paint (white, silver and black), I gave the wood a little more texture and an aged effect.

With gloves and a cloth (old t-shirt style), I waxed the fronts of the drawers with Minwax finishing paste.

So here is my TV stand with its new drawers on casters! I really like the effect and, above all, the extra storage!

I used the left drawer for music and the right drawer for video games. Next week, I'm going to make a new living room table with integrated storage. Finished for me the mess in the living room!
