Brookfield Midcentury Modern Interior Remodel

This midcentury modern Brookfield home was remodeled with an open concept design in mind. Load bearing walls were removed to allow for an open transition from the family room to the dining room, to the kitchen and then into the mudroom. The area is now built for entertaining and makes use of all aspects of the space. Wolf and Sub-Zero appliances add the stainless touch for an updated look and professional grade cooking. Cherry quarter sawn cabinets were chosen for their linear design while matching the long stretch of granite countertops sourced from India.
The lighting schemes each serve their own dynamic task from recessed lighting to task and up lighting. The family can now entertain and communicate easily with their family and friends. A load bearing wall was removed and engineered to allow the open concept design. New red oak hardwood flooring was added and blended into the existing wood making it one surface.
A before photo looking into the family room, dining room and kitchen. There were too many walls blocking traffic flow!
The kitchen now streatches along the full rear wall of the home. The new kitchen layout provides an abundance of food prep and cooking zones allowing for multiple chefs. A sitting area is now in front of the window as a perfect area for reading the paper or for homework. Led accent up lighting can change colors depending on the homeowners preference. The area now flows from the kitchen to the dining room, and into the mudroom.

The Wolf range and matching stainless hood provides function and form. The stone and glass tile were arranged in a dynamic pattern and placement hand selected with the homeowner. Horizontal quartersawn cherry Plato cabinetry adds the linear flow needed for this mid century kitchen.
The kitchen features an under mount sink with nickel touch free faucet. The granite’s movement and red and tan colors are also replicated in the glass wall tile. Extensive lighting, recessed and under-cabinet were installed in order to illuminate the surfaces.

The open concept floor plan creates the illusion of a larger space and allows for good traffic flow and circulation. Hanging lights shimmer across the large ceiling adding the extra touch. The wall color combinations add a nice uplifting blend for this family. The fireplace is now covered with stone where the old wall used to close off the two rooms.

The hallway to the bedrooms contains track lighting to add the dimension especially at night.

The entry is now opened after removing the extra closet, removing walls, and building cantilevered shelving. The linear lines of the front windows match the lines of the mantle and shelving. The living room is no longer boxed in and now provides a warm and comforting area for the family to watch TV. A quartersawn cherry mantle was built to reflect the soft wood tones in this living room space. The fireplace doors were updated in a nickel finish. LED up lighting can change by remote control based on the homeowner's mood or teams color during a sporting event.
Transitioning from a wood floor into a tile foyer can sometimes be too blunt. With this project we added a glass mosaic tile allowing an awesome transition to flow from one material to the other.
The homeowners transformed their old entry from the garage into an open concept mudroom. With a durable porcelain tile floor, the family doesn't have to worry about the winter months ruining their floor. Plato Prelude custom lockers were designed as a drop zone as the family enters from the garage. Jackets and shoes are now organized. The door to the basement was removed and opened up to allow for a new banister and stained wood railing to match the mudroom cabinetry. Now the mudroom transitions to the kitchen and the front entry allowing the perfect flow for entertaining. Transitioning from a wood floor into a tile foyer can sometimes be too blunt.
