Awhile back I posted about whether or not I should paint my kitchen island (again)....well I did...and I love it!

Before of island (made and retrofitted by us out of Lowe's "ready made" cabinets)
I decided to paint it black last year......(Sherwin Williams - Tricorn Black- 6258-latex)... .and then decided to paint it this color. Duck Egg Blue Chalk Paint..and new hardware.
I also added beadboard to the sides to match the back.
Enjoyed the project?

Jes2780004 on Oct 29, 2015Do you remove all hinges before painting? I have a huge island with lots of drawers and cabinets (though the hinges are hidden and not seen from the front)...I'd love to not remove them but if I must I will! Also,I was just planning on using Annie Sloan wax...Do you think using whatever you used turned better results? Thx! Beautiful work!!!!

Nancy @ ArtsyChicksRule on Oct 29, 2015@Jessicajeansimmons Yep, I did. If they are the hidden type you may be able to get away with not removing them (although, in my opinion, it's still best to do so!). I think that is a personal preference (wax or poly). I didn't want the upkeep of wax in the kitchen so went with poly. It's been almost 4 years and I would do the same exact thing again today. Thank you and good luck! :)
