Before and after pictures of my kitchen (we did all the work ourselves). We still need to add a back-splash and cabinet hardware. Would like some input on what color to go with for the back-splash. Also walls are a pale green....should I go darker or another color? I love chickens as you can see from these pictures. I just recently added the valances (designed and made them myself) .
Granite counter tops and stainless steel appliances
Went with Maple Cabinets and Bamboo floors
I designed and made my chicken valances
My obsession is chickens
Waiting on the granite that will go under the microwave
Tore out cabinets, wood paneling, 4 layers of linoleum and appliances.
Added a backsplash and hardware to the cabinet doors.
Another view of backsplash.
So happy with the way my backsplash turned out. I drilled and added all the cabinet door knobs myself.

Fantastic job, Jill! You must be so happy with it so far! I converted your post into a question so you can get some color advice. :)

We did a make over in our 60's ranch and used white subway tiles. They don't distract, easy to cleam, and match everything. You did an awesome job on your kitchen.

@Wanda sinnema Thank you. I have since put up a glass tile backsplash all by my self. I'm 64 and love to take on projects. I designed and made the chicken curtains.

I would use a simple neutral tile that won't take away from your granite (which is gorgeous), but would add to it, maybe find a color in the granite you like and use it for the tile (neutrals never go out of style) then add color to your walls with paint (something cheap and easy to change over the years) Love the makeover! Can't wait to do our 1940's house with 1970's kitchen...

Jill, I'm 62 and I feel the same,,I love projects....I have more of a "to do" rather than "DONE list.. the backsplash looks great..I also sew lots, well, lots of fabric and ideas... Was this your first tile project? I have a general idea ,, But am no way qualified on some of the stuff that needs to be done..rest of it,, I can handle I think..

@Wanda sinnema Yes Wanda this was my first attempt at tiling. I learned a few things like only mix up enough grout for a small area so that you have time to wipe down the grout before it dries too much. I love to sew but don't do much sewing. I am working on a 9 patch quilt (my first attempt at making a quilt). Also love to garden, bake, make jelly and jam.

Beautiful! The colors and textures exude comfort and warmth. I LOVE the chickens. They remind me of Babe's, a popular restaurant here in north Texas. If you haven't been, I highly recommend.
