Gorgeous Kitchen Upgrade With Malibu Wide Plank LVP Flooring

This post is sponsored by Malibu Wide Plank.

When my neighbors’ dishwasher took a toll on their kitchen floor, we saw a perfect chance to upgrade to something special. Enter the Malibu Wide Plank Luxury Vinyl in French Oak Jacksonville—a real game-changer with its stunning color and remarkable texture, smoothness, and defined grain pattern.

Malibu Wide Plank: French Oak Jacksonville LVP

Getting things right from the start meant prepping the floor properly. We cleaned up the area and set spacers against the starting wall. Despite discovering that the walls weren’t exactly square, the flexibility of the Malibu planks meant this wasn’t a headache at all. Installation was a breeze! The first plank slotted in like a dream, with each piece seamlessly connecting at the ends, making it super user-friendly.

For the next rows, we just tilted the planks into place and clicked them down. The built-in 1mm underlayment on each plank was a bonus, making the floor feel soft underfoot and reducing noise. Cutting to size was straightforward too—a simple score with a utility knife, and the planks snapped off cleanly.

The project moved quickly, and we made sure to stagger the joints for that professional, natural look, while also cutting down on waste. The size of these planks really opened up the space, making the kitchen look and feel larger.

What’s impressive about Malibu Wide Plank is not just the aesthetic appeal but also its practicality. It's tough, with a durable 20 mil low-gloss wear layer that can handle kitchen chaos, and it's FloorScore certified, meaning it’s safe and sustainable. For the trickier cuts around corners and fixtures, a jigsaw did the trick, giving us that neat finish.

The choice of colors and finishes from Malibu Wide Plank meant we could get creative with the design, and the end result looked just like real wood, without breaking the bank. Even Cortez, the cat, seemed to approve of the new floor!

Wrapping up, the kitchen’s transformation was striking. It felt warm, inviting, and luxurious, yet totally suited for everyday life. The Malibu Wide Plank not only made the space look great but also added durability and comfort, proving it can stand up to the rigors of daily use.

Huge thanks to Malibu Wide Plank for sponsoring this project and helping us turn a flooring fiasco into a fantastic upgrade!

I am wondering if there is a plan to close the gap around the outside edges? I am planning to do my kitchen floor and am thinking that I would remove all of the baseboard first. Maybe that is not the right thing to do?
