1. Mix the DIY Bleach Alternative
In a small bowl, combine four tablespoons of hydrogen peroxide with a few drops of citrus essential oil.
The citrus oil not only contributes a pleasant fragrance but also enhances the cleaning power of the solution.
Stir the mixture well until it's thoroughly combined.
2. Load Your Washing Machine
Take your white sheets and place them in the washing machine as you usually would.
Ensure the drum is not overloaded to allow the sheets to move freely during the wash, promoting even distribution of the DIY bleach alternative.
3. Add the DIY Solution
Pour the hydrogen peroxide and citrus essential oil mixture into the bleach tray of your washing machine.
By doing so, you're introducing a powerful, bleach-free solution that will effectively whiten your sheets without the use of harsh chemicals.
4. Run the Washing Cycle
Start the washing machine on a regular cycle with cold water. The cold water helps maintain the integrity of your sheets while the DIY bleach alternative works its magic.

Once the washing cycle is complete, let your sheets dry in the sun.
In my opinion, this is the best way to wash white sheets. It’s simple, environmentally friendly, and gives you crisp white sheets without the need for traditional bleach.

Edith Thomas on Feb 12, 2024I use 20 Mule Team Borax with every wash load. At least 1/4 cup. Keeps whites white, and colors clean and odor free. No chlorine!

Sha72287297 on Feb 13, 2024Vinegar has been used in laundry dating back to the 1920's. Per my father who died at 90 yrs. of age. It removes odors and is less toxic than bleach. Have no idea why one would put salt with though. I have been doing laundry for 60 yrs. and my lungs are just fine.
