Is it safe to use easy off oven cleaner on a gas stove oven? It is a self cleaning oven but is so dirty and burnt on (It was like this when I moved here) that self cleaning doesn't really do much. Of course I know you wouldn't turn the oven on if using the easy off, but I am terrified of using anything on a gas oven. I have only had electric appliances prior to this. Please don't suggest using baking soda. Been there, done that.

What about the trick with the lemon-peels and water? You put lemon-peels in water and put it in you oven. Tun the oven on. Let the water damp for a while then wipe off the sides of you oven when it is still half warm. The grates and loose things (unscrewable things) you could put in a bin-bag with amonia for a night. Don't do this too often or too long because it attacks the stainless steel on your grates after a while.

I used also W5 degreaser (the orange squirtbottles) of Lidl whit succes on a lukewarm oven : it all came off aftre letting it sit for a while, but I don't know I you can buy this in Amerika

I don't clean my gas oven and it still works fine, but back in the days when I did clean it, I used Easy Off. You aren't going to turn on the oven while you have your head and half your body in there, so what does it matter how it makes its heat? If it was dangerous to use oven cleaners in a gas oven more than half the people in this country would never have clean ovens. There would be signs in the grocery store warning you to avoid Easy Off, and the container itself would have NOT FOR GAS OVENS in big letters on it. I wouldn't have an electric range if you paid me to take it from you and covered it with gold leaf. Gas turns off when you turn it off and you can see how hot you are making it. You can burn yourself on an electric range when you don't even know it's hot. So don't be terrified of your gas range. You will learn to love it.

Look at the stove, check the brand name and model number, if visible, and go to the manufacturer's website to see if they have information about cleaning their gas ovens.

I just spray Spic N' Span into our stove and let it sit for about 15-30 minutes, to soften the grease. Then I use a brass/metal scrubber go hard to clean off areas. I've managed to make it great again, and now it's easier to clean. It may take a few sprays though, to really saturate the tough spots. Good luck!

Heat the oven to 350, then put a bowl in the oven with vinegar and shut it off. Leave it for 24 hrs, wipe clean. If you create steam the grime will come off. Same in micro, put water in cup 3 minutes, high wipe. Good Luck!
